But, if you don't look like a winner, then perhaps you're in the right job.

A list of the most common professions among lottery winners was also released by National Lottery operator Camelot.

Players working in the construction industry, such as builders and labourers, are apparently most likely to hit it big, followed by people working in administration and management.

The least lucky profession in the top 40 was that of funeral director.

A National Lottery spokesman said: 'When it comes to the luckiest professions, the range of different jobs really proves that people from all walks of life have won the lotto jackpot.'

When it comes to winning, it pays to be in a syndicate, it seems. A fifth of those who scooped £1million were individuals but the remaining 80 per cent were in syndicates.
