World's Largest Hotpot

HotpotSouthwestern China's Sichuan province is especially famous for its spicy cuisine, and the hotpot is just one of the favorites of the locals.

This 16 ton "world largest" hotpot consists of a 2 meter tall "chimney", with a circular body complete with two handles. To better illustrate its size, a party of nearly 60 people will be required to completely surround it. Powered by electricity, this massive pot is capable of serving 80 to 120 dinners at once.

In order to prepare the hotpot for the upcoming Wenshufang Temple Fair on Feb. 16, 15 chefs have started preparing for it. It is said that the soup which weighs 9 tons will need 3,000 kg of oil, 1,000 kg of chilis, 200 kg of peppers and 30 kinds of pungent herbs.

This pot has surpassed the hotpot located in Chongqing as "the world largest pot", and its owner has already applied for a Guinness World Record.
