One can now swim safely in the East China Sea, as the world's first floating ocean swimming pool made its public debut in east China's Shanghai on July 6, 2007. The pool, with access by yacht, opened to the public Thursday at Jinshan City Beach.

As many as 1,000 people at a time can now relax in the world's first floating ocean swimming pool.

With a 15 million yuan (US$1.97 million) investment, the pool is the first to be composed of polymer polyethylene floats. The adult pool is 50 meters long, 25 meters wide and 1.5 meters deep, whereas the children's pool is only 0.9 meters deep.

Some fishes were being swept into the pool by the waves were found to be enjoying their new habitat.
