Regency TR-1, the world's 1st commercially released transistor radio - went on sale in the fall of 1954. This cabinet colour was called "madarin red". Also came in black, cloud grey and ivory.
- Sony TR-63, Sony's 1st ever pocket radio - 1956.. This is the earlier version when the company name was Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo. Sony was actually a brand name! About a year after this radio was released the company officially changed it's corporate name to SONY, perhaps you've heard of them?
- Sony TR-610 Sony's 1st "mass produced" - 1958. This set the standard for transistor radio design. Look closely at some of the other radios in this collection, you'll see lots of imitators of the TR-610 appearance.
Thanks, Julie !
