Cats are often nimble and graceful but for Xavier, a ten-month old kitten, a neurological disorder kept him from walking. That is until he was fitted for a custom wheelchair earlier this week.
Xavier's disorder is not paralysis. Xavier can move his legs, but he has poor motor control and cannot support his own weight. It is all he can do to crawl around, according to Laurelin Sitterly, his adoptive mother and the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal’s humane educator.
Xavier got that apparatus on Wednesday thanks to a compassionate and generous fourth grade class from Velma, Oklahoma which raised enough money for the wheelchair.
