I lived in Chicago for 5 years, and loved it every time they dyed the river. Only Chicago would take a river that is naturally green (and rather gooey), and spend a ton of money to make it more so.

Is it true that Americans celebrate the holiday by wearing green-colored clothing and items, and traditionally, those who are caught not wearing green are pinched?

As I am not fond of green color, I guess I'll be pinched... Ouch!
