The “i-unit” is a form of “personal mobility” that seeks to attain a greater balance of meeting individuals’ wishes to enjoy freedom of movement, harmony with society, and harmony with the Earth’s natural environment.Science Museum staff member Georgina Wright sits in the Toyota I-unit, an electric car built almost entirely of material derived from corn, sugar cane and the African kenaf plant. The i-Unit is part of a London Science Museum exhibit celebrating the 100th birthday of plastic.
