The aluminium and fibreglass lounger is set to fetch £1million ($2million) at auction next month.
The futuristic, airplane-like interpretation of an 18th-century chaise, called the Lockheed Lounge, was created in 1986 by Australian-born designer Marc Newson — who said he “had this image of a fluid aluminium form”.
Experts say it should fetch between £800,000 ($1.6million) and £1.2million ($2.4million) at Christie’s in London next month.
It is being sold as part of a collection owned by a European couple who finally realised they were sitting on a fortune
