It's one thing reporting on the devastating Californian fires - but quite another if you're addressing the camera outside your own burning house.
Larry Himmel had been covering the devastation for his local station KFMB when he heard that his house in Rancho Bernardo was ablaze.
He rushed home and, after making sure his family and pets were safe, donned protective clothing and stood only feet from the burning building to report live to the camera.
In a quavering voice, he said: “On any given day I would say welcome to my home, but this is what is left of my home.”
