A new version of Silent Night has become a howling success - with dogs.
The Christmas carol has been recorded at such high frequencies the music cannot be heard by the human ear.
Only dogs, with their more sensitive hearing, can pick up the sounds which were performed on synthesisers in a studio in Auckland, New Zealand, and released there on a CD costing £1.50.
So many dog owners bought A Very Silent Night for their pets that it has reached number three in the New Zealand music charts.
A spokesman said that when the single was tested on strays brought in to the society "they loved it".
Some dogs apparently threw their heads back and "sang" along to the music.
