A huge monolith which was recently discovered in the Templo Mayor, the ceremonial centre of Mexico's pre-hispanic city Tenochtitlan, now Mexico City, is seen uncovered for the first time. The monolith depicts Tlaltecuhtli, the Aztec god of the earth. Archaeologists have classified the discovery as the most important in the capital for almost 30 years.Click on the image for a larger view.
