Lad must live without giggling

Edward DaviesPoor little kid!

Tragic baby Edward Davies must never laugh or cry — because it could kill him.

Strong emotion triggers violent sickness, which could make him choke. Parents Rachel and Nick have to stop 11-month-old Edward giggling whenever he breaks in to a smile.

Edward suffers from rare genetic disease Cornelia de Lange syndrome that affects just 400 people in the UK. Valves in his lungs do not work, triggering sickness if he laughs, cries or lies on his back.

Edward, from Malvern, Worcs, has to be sat up all the time and has a restricted diet to keep his lungs clear.
