Imagine having a meal in one of the steakhouses in China, and one item in the menu reads "Good to eat mountain"! This is a typical and classic example of how badly languages can be translated into English - if done simply by picking words from a dictionary and simply hoping that it turns out right.
If that's not quite enough, here's some more examples pointed out from Rahoi reader:
A couple of funny translations found in China:
- In a shop called "Many Girl" - "Please do not touch yourself, Let us help you to do it".
- The main sign of an established hospital reads "The Arsehole Hospital". It has since been changed and now reads "The Anal Hospital".
Here's an example of the misuse of Chinese characters in Western culture:
Two months ago, a young man named "Chuck" posted his tattoos which was supposed to be his daughter's initials in Chinese - based on BMEzine's tattoo gallery.
However, his choice of characters was not the best, and his tattoo proudly indicating to everyone that he menstruates regularly.
I guess he doesn't know that the characters mean "stop woman flow". It's always better to seek the help of professional translators in such situations.
