Scientists have discovered that the taste of chocolate gives a bigger thrill than kissing.Six heterosexual couples in established romantic relationships took part in the study at Middlesex University.
Each was fitted with monitors that recorded their heart rates, and sensors were attached to their scalps to record electrical activity in the brain.
Each was then given a bar of plain chocolate and asked to break off a piece and allow it to slowly melt in their mouth.
The couple were then asked to kiss one another. The study found that, at the point chocolate melts in the mouth, all regions of the brain receive a boost far more intense and longer-lasting than that felt when kissing. Chocolate also made the heart beat faster and for longer than kissing.
