A python found in Indonesia is 14.85m (49ft) long and has a maximum body circumference of 85cm (almost three feet) and weighs 447kg (70 stone, 3lbs).

It was captured by a 58-year-old python expert from east Java who was summoned to Jambi after locals, who stumbled upon it while foraging for wood, were too afraid to approach it.

The expert reportedly needed 65 helpers to snare the python and the blessing of tribal leaders as pythons are regarded as deities by many locals.

The python is proving to be a major attraction for the zoo, as about 700 people visit the Curugsewu zoo every day to admire the new but rather lazy star.

Snake this large really is nature's wonder, we are lucky to set our eyes on it before it's extinct...

If the Indonesian Government plans to hold it in captivity for a long time, I think it would be nice to make its cage bigger and similar to its original habitat. So its not only the human enjoying as well as the anaconda.

I guess it would be better if it's given to a zoo with the space and facility to take good care of it. That would be the ideal case, I guess.

The snake should be let go in it's original habitat its not its fault it's so large and should not be kept in a zoo because of that. Had it been harmed or near death and in need of nurturing that would have been a different story. Lazy star? What is it supposed to do in a box? Animals like that should stay in the wild and not locked up for the prophet of others.

This isn't true. The snake is question was measured and found to be only 21 feet long.

Despite this they really should let it go, no animal deserves this.

Ive been to different websites to see if this was true, and to my suprise iit is! And i agree , they should keep it in the wild and have a sign that says, " Giant snake dont shoot" or sometin like that or they could give it a very large space that looks like its habitat. Poor snake to be in that small area :(
