At around 11 am, the reporter made the discovery at the seafood section of the supermarket, spotting a decapitated crocodile with its body being cut up. The dead reptile attracted many curious shoppers to crowd around it, and one even used a handkerchief to open its deadly jaws to have a look at its teeth. Others were asking the staff if it's legal to eat crocodile meat, or how they should cook it.
What about it's price? This "delicacy" costs 198 Yuan per 500 grams, but its paws are slightly more expensive as they are sold for 300 Yuan each. A staff of the supermarket explained though many shoppers were just curious, sometimes the crocodile meat were selling fast and could fetch few thousand Yuan.
These crocodiles were freshly slaughtered and supplied by a nearby farm during the weekends period as there will be more shoppers. Taking account of the safety of its shoppers, the crocodiles are not slaughtered within the supermarket's premises.
54 animals were being approved for breeding for consumer purposes by the government, and the crocodile is one of them.
