New Nintendo video game 'will replace the gym'

Nintendo has unveiled a slew of new control devices including a Wii Balance Board that will play with a new fitness game called Wii Fit.

The balance board will allow users to do step aerobics, yoga poses and other balancing exercises, where they can shift their weight and actually control on-screen movements. One game involves shifting your weight to control a soccer player as he heads the ball. The balance board can also calculate your body mass index and your center of gravity, helping you improve your weight or posture.

"We can use this as a new interface for games so you can use your full body movements for input," said famed Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto at Nintendo's E3 media event.

Wii Fit will appear in the first half of 2008.
