Thousands slept outside train station in Beijing
A thousand passengers slept overnight at the Beijing West Railway Station on July 4, 2007. The summer holidays are a peak period for traveling in China and since they did not manage to get train tickets during the day, they slept outside the station rather than a hotel to save cost. In addition, they find it more cooling to sleep in the square too. There are some who slept on their own blankets while the rest slept on newspapers which they bought on the spot.
