Experimental Electrodes Help Him Speak Again After 6 Years

X-ray of skull with implanted electrodesA brain-damaged man trapped in a coma-like state for six years has been given a new lease of life by doctors who planted electrodes deep inside his brain.

Before the treatment, the 38-year-old was unable to talk and could communicate only through small eye or finger movements.

But the patient, whose identity has not been revealed, can speak, eat, drink and brush his hair when his brain is stimulated using electrical impulses.
