The monkey faces in your garden

pic5Pretty pansies - don't let the name fool you. Pansies are anything but shy, weak, or sensitive. In fact, they are one of the hardiest flowers of the bunch, and colorful too!

Pansies will bloom non-stop from spring to fall, and in certain southern portions of the United States(zones 6-9) will continue to bloom right though the winter as well. The lush, velvety pansy comes in just about any color you can imagine. Vivid purples, brilliant yellows, bright whites, and mellow blues are only a few of the vast color choices this special little flower has to offer. The blotches found on the face of each pansy come in a wide variety of colors as well. (bi-colors & tri-colors)

Blue-footed boobies

Blue-footed boobiesThe Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii) is a bird in the Sulidae family which comprises ten species of long-winged seabirds. It is on average 81 cm long and weighs 1.5 kg (3 lb), with the females slightly larger than the males.

The name “booby” comes from the Spanish term bobo, which means "stupid fellow". This is because the Blue-footed Booby is clumsy on the land, and like other seabirds can be very tame.

The natural breeding habitat of the Blue-footed Booby is tropical and subtropical islands off the Pacific coast of South America from Peru to Mexico including, most famously, the Galápagos Islands.

The males show off their blue feet to potential mates with high-stepping dances.
