Ukrainian declared world's tallest person

Leonid Stadnik, the world's tallest manA Ukrainian man is the tallest person in the world at 8 feet 5 inches (2.56 meters), overshadowing a Chinese man who previously held the title, Guinness World Records said Wednesday.

Leonid Stadnik, a 37-year-old former veterinarian, is 8 inches (20.3 cm) taller than the former titleholder, China's Bao Xishun, who measured 7 feet 9 inches (2.36 meters), Guinness World Records spokeswoman Amarilis Espinoza said in London.

Stadnik's growth spurt started at age 14 after a brain operation apparently stimulated his pituitary gland, which produces the human growth hormone.

He lives with his mother, Halyna, in northwestern Ukraine, taking care of the family's house and garden.

He actually didn't have the surgery at 14 which is why he keeps growing, he didn't even see a doctor until his mid thirties, I just watched a whole documentary on him and 3 other people with his disorder, there was or maybe still is a tumor growing uner his gland that causes it to continue to produce human growth hormones far past the normal age.
