Dallas Sunday, State Fair goers watched half a dozen of the world's finest speed eaters compete in the Waffle House World Waffle Eating Championship.
Each contestant seemed to have their own strategy, but to the outsider, it seemed simple enough: just keep eating.
With the crowd cheering, in the last minutes of the contest, only two reminded. Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti and last year's winner Joey "Jaws" Chestnut continued on their mission.
Bertoletti said he listens to music to stay focused, and he said, "I just dunk them, and put them in my mouth and drink water."
Chestnut said he just kept eating.
When the ten minutes were finally up, the Major League World Waffle Eating Champion had eaten a little more than 29 waffles. Bertoletti won the contest by just half a waffle.
He took home $3,500. Each waffle Bertoletti ate earned him $120.
