Man's Skin Turns Dark Blue

Paul KarasonIt's not makeup or paint that makes Paul Karason's skin a deep purple color. The 57-year-old started making the transition from fair skin and freckles to what he looks like today 14 years ago.

"The change was so gradual that I didn't perceive it and for people around me, likewise," Karason said. "It was just so gradual that no one really noticed. It wasn't until a friend that I hadn't seen in several months came by my parents' place to see me and he asked me 'what did you do?'"

What Karason did was use a substance called colloidal silver, which is made by extracting silver from metal. It goes into water with an electrical current and then you drink it. Colloidal silver is billed as something that will cure just about everything that ails you and Karason swears by it.

Karason does not believe drinking the potion is what caused his discoloration. He believes it happened because he rubbed it on his face to treat a skin problem. A medical condition called Argyria has been linked to such discoloration since the days when silver solutions were used as antibiotics.

Wow Spencer... you do have some good points, but what would the media benefit from going against the "silver" drinkers of the world? Why would they want to shoot down your effective methods of self medicating?

Conspiracy theories are out there about things curing cancer and going against the FDA etc. so that people like you can sell more stuff to those who believe in such rubbish. It is all about the money.

Reason why the media displays blue men, is for money, it is the same as the freak show at the carnivals back in the old days, people pay to see weird stuff.

Good for you they still pay to believe in miracle cures and $20 DVDs to tell them how conventional medicine will kill you.

Keep phishing brother

Why would the media do a "hit piece" on colloidal silver? Because natural cures is a huge business and it's cutting into the drug market. It's amazing that until anti-biotics were the norm they prescribed colloidal silver for a plethora of conditions. But you can't patent colloidal silver, thus you can't make a ton of money on it either. They did their best to make a buck on it, but once the anti-biotics hit the market they quit using CS and turned on anyone who talked CS up.

So, this is just one more exagerated sitution used to poke fun at people who believe in alternative methods that really do work, and that the medical community once used.

I heard about this on a radio program a few days ago. I believe they said that the friend that introduced him to it was taking one ounce a day and this gentlemen eventually decided to drink a 10 ounce mug a day.
