Girl's 'Message In a Bottle' is Discovered Thousands of Miles Away

To send a letter to someone halfway around the world in this day and age, you would probably send an e-mail, but one girl in Durham sent a letter in a very unique way and made a friend across the Atlantic.

On Dec. 18, 2006 while on vacation in Atlantic City with her family, 13-year-old Alexus Monds and her brother wrote messages in bottles before tossing them into the ocean. More than a year passed and the two siblings didn’t think much more about it. Then one day, Alan Coltart, a park ranger in North Cornwall, England, found the bottle and contacted her.
