Knitted Home Goes On Tour

Knitted gingerbread homeA 140 sq ft Gingerbread House made up of millions of stitches is currently on tour in the UK. It has already raised about £20,000 ($40,000) for charity.

The eye-catching mock dwelling has knitted furniture and household goods, including beds, a dresser, chairs, pictures and tables.

The stove and breakfast in the frying pan, are also hand-knitted, as well as household treats like sweets, cakes and biscuits.

It is surrounded by a knitted garden, complete with wool flowers.

The house was the brainchild of 45-year-old knitting enthusiast Alison Murray, from Devon, who organized teams of knitters to create the unusual abode.
