Carnival season is celebrated in a nortern Italian town by locals pelting each other with oranges.
In the northern Italian town of Ivrea locals took part in a juicy battle, armed with oranges.
Every year around 500 tonnes of the citrus fruit are shipped in from Sicily to re-enact a battle that took place in the middle ages.
The battle recalls the insurrection against a mean tyrant with the oranges representing the oppressor's head.
