A Russian company called New Age Diamonds produces gem-quality synthetic diamonds in the lab. The raw material for the creation of such diamonds is either human or animal hair.
They have recently entered the Japanese market with a new product called “Heart-In Baby Diamond” – basically a synthetic diamond made from the hair of newborn babies. Prices range from USD $3,500 for a 0.2-carat canary yellow diamond to USD $17,000 for a 0.8-carat chameleon red diamond.
