New Atlantic balloon record

Hempleman-AdamsHempleman-Adams set a new world record today after flying across the Atlantic in the smallest hot air balloon to complete the 2100-mile (3380 km) journey.

The 50-year-old businessman, from Box, Wiltshire, flew over the coast of Brittany at 5am in his "basic" helium balloon, four days after setting off from Newfoundland.

The adventurer had endured temperatures of -20C, little sleep, and the constant fear of crash-landing.
